With major manufactures such as Goodyear and Michelin producing around 500 different sizes and types of car tyre alone, it has become all too easy to get misquoted on tyre type and price.

New tyres should ideally be fitted to the rear of the vehicle for safety, (even on front-wheel drive cars). Mixing tyres with a different specification across an axle may fail the MOT test, can cause handling problems, and should be avoided.

Some tyres are designed to be fitted only as pairs or in sets of four. Failure to do this can result in unpredictable handling, ABS (braking) problems and even transmission damage on specific vehicles.
